6 Must Have Healthy Kitchen Gadgets

I’m all about healthy habits and holistic hacks so In the name of making life happier and easier for you… I decided to share my most favorite must-have kitchen gadgets that should be in every healthy habits kitchen.

Which means today I’m sharing with you the 5 must-have kitchen gadgets that should be in every healthy habits kitchen.

These are the absolute basic things you’ve gotta have on hand so while you’re building your biz, you’re also making it easy on yourself to get and stay healthy.

In the meantime, let’s go through the 6 must-have healthy kitchen gadgets.

Must-Have Gadget #1: A good blender.
It doesn’t need to be super fancy.

It just needs sharp blades, a few settings, and the ability to hold a lot of stuff.

So don’t buy one of those little bullets.

Get a blender that’s big enough to handle a smoothie and the chunky stuff you may want to puree.

Because a good blender can serve double duty - obviously for smoothies, but also for making purees or soups roughly chopping vegetables.

As you’re building your healthy habits, you’ll probably find yourself reaching for your blender several times a week.

Especially if you begin integrating things like smoothies - which are easy ways to pack in vegetables and fruit and even protein. I love making a smoothie for breakfast, or as a snack during the work day.

Must-Have Gadget #2: A quality knife set.

I’m talking knives for prepping your food.

If possible, get a knife set in a block so they stay protected and not cluttered in a drawer.

The bare minimum options your knife set should have are: a large chef’s knife, a paring knife, a serrated knife, and honing steel (for sharpening).

Anything beyond that is nice to have but necessary.

Obviously knives are great for chopping veggies, but you can also use knives to slice skin off fruit, smash garlic cloves, pop seeds out like from a pomegranate for example - you get the idea. They’re versatile and they belong in your healthy habits kitchen.

Must-Have Gadget #3: A slow cooker or instant pot.

These are not just for your mom.

Having a gadget like this in your healthy habits kitchen means on the days when it’s go go go, you can build into your schedule a little bit of prep time to have a meal cooking for you when you’re not able to do it yourself.

Which means maybe you can avoid grabbing take out or hitting up a drive through.

This goes back to building the habit of managing your time (I’ve got a whole podcast episode all about that RIGHT HERE) but trust me when I say this: planning ahead for the days that are nonstop is like a little gift to yourself and your sanity.

There are tons of healthy recipes out there for the slow cooker or instant pot. I think there’s a misconception that those gadgets are synonymous with party food but that isn’t true.

You can even make yogurt in an instant pot. Not kidding. Which brings me to the other reason to have a gadget like this on hand… like the other things I’m recommending, these can do double duty for you.

Yogurt is one example, but you can also use a slow cooker to make your own vegetable broth. Sounds complicated but literally it’s you tossing leftover veggies (like maybe the ones you didn’t use in your smoothie…) and some water in a slow cooker overnight. Strain the liquid into jars and you’re done.

Home cooked broth.  How good does that sound?

Must-Have Gadget #4: A salad spinner.

Because you should always be eating more greens and a spinner is an awesome way to rinse them (instead of a million paper towels - bad for the environment) before you eat them.

But… you can also use a salad spinner as a strainer or colander. Some of them can even be used as serving bowls for your salad after you’ve spun all the water off.

Again with the multi-uses, but this is what makes building healthier habits easier, right?

Must-Have Gadget #5: An immersion blender.

This is different than your regular blender.

This little gadget can be submerged directly into your stockpot (or mixing bowl) to blend up whatever’s there.

Which means it’s great for soups, sauces, or even making icing for your vegan cupcakes.

One of my fav tricks is to use it to make homemade applesauce. Which if you’re a mom… you know applesauce is a pantry staple.

You can microwave a few peeled apples in a bowl with some water for about 10 minutes, until the apples get soft. Then place them in a bowl with a tall side and blend with the immersion blender.

Add some honey or maple syrup and or cinnamon and you’re good to go.

Must-Have Gadget #6: A milk frother

These are not just for non-dairy milks, okay?!

I love having a milk frother on hand for when I wanna make a latte at home. Plus, you can actually put plain water in these too to quickly heat up water for tea.

I’m gonna share a cacao latte recipe with you real quick that you can use with your milk frother:

Here’s what you need:
  • ¾ cup non-dairy milk (like coconut)
  • ½ cup hot water
  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tsp cacao powder (not cocoa powder)
  • ¼ tsp pure vanilla extract

Add the water to the frother to heat it up, then put it into your mug. Add all the ingredients except the non-dairy milk. Heat up the non-dairy milk in the frother, then pour it in. Whisk everything together and enjoy.

And that’s it! Those are my six must-have kitchen gadgets for building a healthier habits kitchen.

Now, LMK: what did I miss? What would you takeaway?

XO,
Hayley
