3 Ways to Stop Procrastinating and Get to Work

Get to work.

I mean it.

Stop petting your cat, stop scrolling Facebook, stop staring into outer space and...

Get.

To.

Work.

If I waited until I was “ready” to start my business... yeesh, I’d still be working a 9 to 5, working for “the man”, getting paid by the hour...and feeling hella unfulfilled.

I’m all about taking action and getting shiz done. And I did just that when I started up this biz all those years ago.

It’s easy to get stuck behind a wall of excuses. So break that wall down.

Guess what? Successful peeps don’t make excuses, they take action.

Procrastination is usually a result of fear.

Fear of failure. Fear of missing the mark. Fear of not being able to reach the finish line.

To get around this fear, you gotta start at the bottom...with the tiny negative thoughts that buzz around your head all day long.

The thoughts that say you can’t...you’re not good enough…

Because guess what — you are. And you can change these negative thought patterns.

It’s time to start rewiring.

Start telling yourself you ARE a person that takes action. You ARE a success.

You can be whoever you want to be. But it does start with you.

Your thoughts are hella powerful and it’s time to start using them for good.

1. Start small...but not too small

When you dream big, achieving those dreams can feel a tad overwhelming. (Again…hello there fear…buzz off already….geez!)

Like how you are supposed to get from here….all the way over there?!

The key is to start small and break your goal down into manageable chunks. What are the steps you need to take to accomplish your goal?

Start with Step 1….not Step 5. And don’t even think about Step 10!! Don’t...I’ll hurt you.

Once you get going, you’ll start gaining momentum and that will help you keep on truckin’.

Another trick to starting small is simply just do something for 10 minutes.

Whether it’s writing, brainstorming, scheduling meetings, working on your business plan — just do it for 10 minutes.

If after the 10 minutes are up, you want to quit, go for it. But I guarantee you’ll want to continue.

The hardest part is always the start. But again, it’s all about mindset.

2. Stop caring about what other people think

When you finally launch your product, service, biz…whatever you’re working on, don’t let other people’s opinions hold you back.

I get it, it’s scary to put yourself out there.

But again, you can’t let fear stand in the way of your success.

I guarantee you care WAAAY more about what you’re doing then anyone else.
And if someone doesn’t like what you’re doing, who cares. If you’ve done the work, and you know your target audience, someone will!

If you can make a difference in one person’s life, if you get even one single sale, you’ve accomplished a great thing.

It’s also too easy to get caught up in endless research and comparing yourself to others. Stop consuming education and information and go for it.

Imposter syndrome is a real thing.but don’t let it get the best of you. If you feel like an imposter, that’s a sure sign you’re not one.

You’ve done the research, you’ve done the work. You got this. Stop worrying about everyone else. Or if you’re “ready”.

3. Shift your mindset

When people try to do something hard, let’s say, like eliminating ALL sugar from their diet  — they dread it.

The thought of it makes them want to cry and they want to give up quitting before they’ve even started.

Maybe you’re not going cold turkey on every single piece of fruit but you may have the same attitude towards your biz.

Stop dreading the work and start getting excited about it!

Having trouble finishing your website? Get stoked! Start telling yourself it’s going to be fun!

Put on some energetic tunes.

Put on your favorite little black dress and bunny slippers.

Take your laptop to that funky little cafe down the street with your favorite smoothies.

Make it fun.

I’m lucky I was born with the go-getter gene. I can’t stop taking action in my life and biz.

Yes, some days I have more motivation than others, but even on those days, I don’t want to waste my time or others.

And I’ve created a story for myself that I’m a person who gets shiz done. I’m a completer. I mean, come on, why would I choose any other option?

Every moment matters. Life is short. Let’s stop letting fear run the show and take back the director’s seat.
