5 Essential Oils and Blends that Help Boost Energy so you can Seize the Day

If you’re hiding from your kids in a dark pantry while stuffing pita chips in your mouth and praying for an extension on your assignment or project, you’re probably feeling a bit stressed.

No judgment--we’ve all been there at some embarrassing point.

Stress, unhealthy snacking habits and (YES!! ) hiding from your responsibilities takes a toll on our health, making us feel fatigued and weak.

So why not try a holistic approach you can use in your living room...on your fluffy sofa...while your kids watch?
Essential oils carry natural compounds that help boost energy levels, improve mental capacity, and relieve
stress.

Take a look at our top five essential oils and oil blends that can help promote your energy levels naturally, and create therapeutic effects for your body and mind.

  1. Peppermint Oil
‘Peppermint Joy’-- the smell is AMAZE-balls! Peppermint essential oil smells like Christmas and my grandmother’s going out purse...hehe.

It’s one of the most concentrated oils, so the smell tends to linger in your nostrils and will bring you an all-day joy. When diffused in the air, the peppermint will stimulate your senses, sharpen your concentration, enhance your mental alertness, and improve your stamina.

If you mix it with distilled water, you can make a refreshing room spray. If you add a few drops of a carrier oil and apply it on your temples, you’ll be able to enhance your mental clarity.

Try applying it to the base of your neck and notice how you stay energized throughout the day. Peppermint essential oil blends well with lemon, oregano, lavender, rosemary, eucalyptus, cypress, juniper berry, and marjoram essential oils.

  1. Rosemary Oil
Rosemary is like the Swiss Army knife of essential oils. Keep this one in your pocket just in case...It has an uplifting, invigorating, refreshing, and stimulating aroma.

It is used to promote brain health and improve memory and mood, but also relieves exhaustion, enhances the immune system, and supports circulation.

For energizing effects, use it topically or aromatically. Mix a few drops of oil with distilled water, add it to a spray bottle and spritz it around your living space.

Rosemary essential oil blends well with citronella, lemongrass, peppermint, sage, lavender, chamomile, thyme, basil, and sage essential oils.

  1. Grapefruit Oil
Here’s a grapefruit diet that doesn’t require the face-puckering taste of grapefruit.

Grapefruit improves mental capacity and boosts energy levels because it is rich in folate. Aromatically, it helps relieve adrenal fatigue – a common factor in the constant lethargic feeling.
Grapefruit essential oil gets your blood pumpin’, tingles your nerves and helps  you feel more focused and alert.

Try Using it at the start of your day to pump up your internal volume and get your mood poppin’.

Add a few drops of grapefruit essential oil to your bath or shower, diffuser, or apply it to your wrists or neck.
Grapefruit essential oil blends well with rosemary, lavender, bergamot, peppermint, geranium, and frankincense essential oils.

  1. Spearmint Oil
Let’s say you can’t make it to hot yoga today...don’t stress. Spearmint saves the achy day.
It’s scent is restorative and fresh, so no wonder it’s great to use whenever you’re experiencing muscular or mental stress.

It’s known to enhance concentration, improve mood, and boost energy levels. Spearmint essential oil is also excellent for those over-achievers (yeah, I’m talkin’ to you) who often stays up late to study or work because it helps boost immunity, relieves head and neck tension, and supports the respiratory system.

Add a few drops to your diffuser or mix it with a carrier oil and apply to your chest, throat, back of neck, temples, and forehead. Spearmint essential oil blends well with eucalyptus, peppermint, rosemary, jasmine, and basil essential oils.

  1. Tangerine Oil
Tangerine is not just a fave 1980’s lip color. Tangerine essential oil can help in the absorption of essential nutrients by supporting the process of digestion.

It also promotes detoxification which leads to a stronger immune system, better mental clarity and improved overall health. In traditional Chinese medicine, the tangerine peel has been known to stabilize and control the flow of energy.

Whenever you feel down, cranky, or overwhelmed, try diffusing this oil in your room, inhaling it, or adding a few drops to your bath in order to lift your energy and mood (I bet you know a toddler or two that needs this STAT).

Tangerine essential oil blends well with lemon, frankincense, bergamot, Roman chamomile, grapefruit, wild orange oil, and lavender essential oils.

Whenever you lack the motivation you know you need during the day, can’t seem to concentrate, or you just feel plain ole tired even though you haven’t done that much – you may be low on energy.

Topical application, aromatherapy or ingestion (please check that your oils are 100% pure and unadulterated) of these essential oils are all effective ways to boost your energy so you can make it through the rest of your day!
