Olympiads vs MOM-trepreneurs

Hey Guys,

Before writing this email, I was sitting here with my eyes completely glued to the TV as I watched those amazing athletes at the Olympic games in Rio.  They are incredible, every single one if them.

The margins of error are so slim between getting a medal or not.

What struck me is that every single athlete competing has in the past had some struggle with their life and results, which required a reset.  It might have been a previous Olympics, or World Championship, or some other competition, but most of them experienced something that caused them to take a look at themselves, review and adjust.

Their commitment and discipline is what sets them apart from being an average Joe to a world class athlete. I have witnessed this first hand as my husband, Wes, was formerly a top 5 in the world triathlete that attempted to qualify for the Olympics.  It isn’t easy.

So I thought how can I share this message with us MOM-trepreneurs out there?  What could we learn from this?  How does carrying a kid on one hip, handbag over the other shoulder, speaking on the cell phone, wiping up the spilt smoothie on the car seat, having your husband asking you where his keys are in the background, putting your mascara on and rubbing a little Lavender Essential oil on your wrist all at the same time…how can these Olympiads even compete with us right?

Well these are amazing skills we have, but we can’t live like that forever…without eventually crashing, so here are some Olympic level tips for you MOM-trepreneurs out there.

RESET - The kiddos have either just gone back to school or are about to go back and this offers you a perfect opportunity to just stop and take a breath.  It is time to review what is working for you in your life, where you want to go and set yourself some goals.

We all need to come up and hit the reset button, so we can change what is not working in our lives.

HONESTY - We have to be honest with ourselves.  What is not serving us well?  What personal habits are holding us back?  Who are we surrounding ourselves with?  This takes a lot of courage and may hurt yours and others feeling when you do this, but it is essential.

BREATHER - You need to take a breather.  As parents we give so much of ourselves to others.  There has to come a time when we look after ourselves and refuel and rejuvenate ourselves.  If we feel tired, overwhelmed, drained and frustrated then magic is not going to happen and our family and business life will suffer.

DREAM BIG - Create yourself some scary big dreams for the rest of the year.  It is time to enlarge your vision of life and imagine you living a life that is so damn amazing but so scary to you.  It’s time to step out of your comfort zone and make it happen.

COMMIT - Commit to sticking to your goals no matter what.  You need to have that discipline of an Olympiad and wake up every single day committed to making your dreams comes true.  Become obsessed with achieving your dream life for you and your family.  And I mean obsessed in a healthy way.  Keep it in the front of your mind…all day and every day.

So this should help you get ready to kick some serious butt this year and have fun while you’re doing it.

Become the champion of your life…

XO

Hayley
